Flying Geese!

Wow, there were lots of these.

I’m making 16 – 24″ squares and I had to make 8 flying geese for EACH square.

Yes, 128 Flying Geese!!

I’m so happy to have this tool. This is the Wing Clipper by Deb Tucker. It’s one of my favorites and I recommend it highly. Before the quilt along started, I took the instructions into Staples and had them laminate them for me. A much safer way of not losing them nor tearing them up as I’m cutting.

On first glance, I thought that my flying geese were perfect, but after I lined them up with the ruler, I realized that they were “almost” perfect, but not quite. See this?

Fabric Trimmings

I chain stitched them all together and ended up with one really, really looooooooooooooong line of squares.

Then my trusty slave son, Andrew volunteered to help cut all the threads for me. :) Isn’t he a sweety? He was working so fast that I had a hard time getting his picture. Hence the reason it’s all blurry.

Finally the sewing, cutting and trimming is done! And HERE are my 128 Flying Geese Pieces for the Star Light Star Bright Quilt Along!

Woohoo!

Next week we start sewing HST’s, otherwise known as Half Square Triangles. I don’t even want to count!! 😉

Until next time,

Happy Friday!

Blessings

  1. They look awesome!! And so nicely trimmed!! Your son is so sweet to clip your threads, my daughter likes to do that for me as well and I am always so excited with how much time it saves 😉 Way to get all of those geese sewn up.

Can I rent your helper? :) My daughter isn’t two yet so no sharp objects for her she still throws stuff at me.
