Cowgirl Critique: Submerged by Dani Pettrey

A sabotaged plane. Two dead deep-water divers. One single clue.

Are you ready to go on an adventure to Alaska?

How about scuba diving in Alaskan waters? With a murderer on your tail?

Yeah, me neither. But it certainly didn’t stop me from devouring this story and living through the characters.

Bailey Craig has come back to Yancey, Alaska, to bury her beloved Aunt. She plans to get in and get out. When she lived there, she was a different person than she is now. And everyone knows that small towns forget nothing. Bailey wants to shake the bad girl image and move on with her life, preferably far from Alaska.

Cole McKenna, a rescue diver,  had a thing for Bailey back in their high school days, but she deceived him and tore his heart to shreds on her way out. Now she’s back and he can’t help but wonder at the difference. Or is there a difference?

When dead bodies start turning up and strangers in town are suspected of foul play, Cole and Bailey must find a way to trust each other and work together.

If you are looking for a fluffy romance. Look elsewhere. You won’t find it here.

If you are looking for a suspense tossed with adventure, mystery and intrigue along with a little history and romance mixed in, you’ve come to the right book.

It took me a little to get into the story, but once I did, I didn’t want it to end. Be sure to read the prologue. It will get your senses intrigued and prime you for the rest of the story.

To be released Feb 2013

An excellent debut novel. I can’t wait to read Dani Pettrey’s next book in this Alaskan Courage series!  Shattered is due to be released in February 2013 and you can bet I’ll be first in line! :)

A  huge thank you to Bethany House Publishing company for my review copy of this book. The opinion expressed here are mine.
