Homestead Howdy: Lynette Eason

Lynette Eason

Lynette Eason grew up in Greenville, SC. Her home church, Northgate Baptist, had a tremendous influence on her during her early years. She credits dedicated Sunday School teachers and Christian parents for her acceptance of Christ at the tender age of eight. Even as a young girl, she knew she wanted her life to reflect the love of Jesus Christ.

After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a Business Degree she used for a very short time (sorry Mom and Dad), she moved to Spartanburg, SC to attend Converse College where she obtained her Masters degree in Education. During this time, she met the man she would marry—the boy next door!

She is married to Jack Eason, who speaks, leads worship, and consults ministries around the country.. In December of 2010, they celebrated their fourteenth wedding anniversary. Lynette and Jack have two precious children, Lauryn, twelve years and Will, who is ten.

What inspires you?

Everyday life. My family. Spending time with God. :)

Share 3 random facts about yourself.

I hate summertime, love wintertime.

I like to spend time alone almost as much as I like spending time with others.

I LOVE strawberry smoothies from Panera Bread.

What relaxes you after a long day?

A hot bath and a good book.

What do you like to read?

I enjoy the same genre I write, Romantic Suspense, but love a funny chick lit book upon occasion or a good old western.

What is your greatest asset?

My family.

What are you working on right now?

Tell us about your current book. Right now, I’m working on the second book in the Deadly Reunions series. It doesn’t have a title yet, but I hope that’s coming soon. A Killer Among Us is the most recent release from Revell and is book 3 in the Women of Justice series. Here’s the back cover blurb:

What happens when the hunter . . . becomes the hunted?

Kit Kenyon is a first-rate hostage negotiator. Noah Lambert is a good detective with excellent instincts. These new partners have hardly had time to get used to each other when they are thrown into a grisly murder case. As evidence mounts up and more victims are found, Kit and Noah realize they are on the hunt for a serial killer. The problem is, he may be hunting one of them too.

With nail-biting suspense, clever plot twists, and a hint of romance, A Killer Among Us is the latest thriller from Lynette Eason.

What one piece of advice would you give to other aspiring authors just like yourself?

Keep writing, keep learning and go to a writers conference! LOL. I know that might be out of the question for some writers, but if you can get to a writers conference, that’s the best thing you can do for your writing. ACFW (America Christian Fiction Writers) is THE conference to go to. It’s always at the end of September and every agent, editor, publishing house you can think of is there, ready to talk to YOU! It’s amazing!

How can my readers find you?

I would love for readers to sign up for my newsletter. They can do that at my website, facebook page or on my blog.

What would you like to ask the readers of this post?

Who are some of your favorite author and why? What makes you keep coming back buying their books?

Lynette, thank you so much for being here and taking the time to share with us.

Here are some books that I love by Lynette Eason that you might want to check out:

  • Threat of Exposure – Awesome book about a DEA agent and a Texas Ranger. The action keeps on going until the very last page.
  • Too Close to Home – Book #1 in her Women of Justice Series. This one was really sweet. I fell in love with Connor and Samantha. Again if you’re looking for a page-turner. You’ve come to the right place.
  • Don’t Look Back – Book #2 in the Women of Justice Series. This was my very first read by Lynette Eason. I absolutely fell in love with her writing and have scooped up all of her books that I can find. :)

Don’t forget to leave a comment thanking Lynette for coming and answer her questions. :)

Lynette – I loved your WOJ series! Passed it on to other friends of mine:) It was great to see you here this morning.

Pretty much, if it’s a great story, I’m hooked. However I do find the majority of stories I’m drawn to are laced with romance and suspense…but I do not like overly flowery romance. I can handle a sentence here or there that tends to drip with sweetness, but too many and you lose me. The authors I love and keep coming back to write drier characters, strong leads, and dig into their lives. I think that’s why I like series. I want to get to know someone and hang out with them for awhile.

  2. Lynette, I read Too Close to Home and loved it. I have #2 in my TBR pile!
Wow, I have so many favorite authors. Usually, if I love the book I’m reading, that author is my new favorite author until the next book. lol

I love Steven James, James Scott Bell, Deb Raney, Erin Healy, Kristen Heitzmann….and on and on. I love romantic suspense, and thrillers, but I’ll read just about anything. In fact, I’m about to read my first Amish book!

Sheri, great job hosting Lynette! You know you’re a whole bunch of awesomeness. 😉

The list is long on favorite authors, sigh, I like to read all genres, so it is tough to list all of them. I would say Ted Dekker and Erin Healy, Steven James, Chris Fabry. I really enjoy authors that surprise me, when the story is going a certain direction and bam something pops up that you did not see coming. As an avide reader that is tough, because I usually see it coming, but the authors mentioned above have that capability and I love that. I have not read Lynette’s books as yet, but I hope to in the near future. Thanks so much!
